A strong piece, Heather! The horizontal creates a world that feels stable and expected. It almost feels a bit claustrophobic too, with very little sky. The hair and trees create for me a feeling of contrast to the sedentary landscape . A bit of chaos entering her world, possibly. They tangle on the left. Her hair also mimics the trees making her seem very at one with nature. Her eyes take my thoughts out of the picture to another place. She inhabits her world, but her thoughts are somewhere else. I know I'm reading a lot into it, but honest my thoughts as I look. Beautiful brushwork. Lovely palette! Impressive!
