"What Frida Taught Me"
Oil On Panel
36"x24"

The idea for this painting was conceived during my time spent in the Yukon Territory recently. The quiet and isolation there was wonderful, and the composition is also inspired by Frida Kahlo's painting "What The Water Gave Me".

This makes me think of George Bush's strange bathroom paintings. But you're much more talented, of course. :)

This is really wonderful. There have been so many times when I'm taking a bath and want to paint that perspective. There's something so beautiful about it. I'm elated you're the one that did it!

wonderful composition. i really appreciate how you capture transparent subjects like water or curtains with oils. for me i've always found it to be one of the most challenging and fun subjects to paint.

Yes translucent or delicate materials/substances are tricky to paint...it helps for me to break it down and try not to think of what it is and instead what it is composed of in terms of colour and value.

I saw a very similar piece which caught my eye at an art walk in downtown LA. This also catches my eye. Really wonderful piece. Colours are really superb.

I saw it quite some time ago, and unfortunately I have no idea who painted it. It was a similar perspective, with another pair of legs and very similar colors.
