Quad Cane
2006
Oil On Canvas
24"x20"
Sold, Private Collection, Mississauga, Ontario

This was part of the Passages Exhibition. It is a very personal painting. That is the cane my mother used when she was recovering from her stroke. The little bit of room beyond on the left is where my father was recuperating from major surgery. That's him in the bed through there. It was a very difficult time in my life and this painting is a small bit of that history.

It is strange how objects become a part of our history, and we become a part of theirs. The glimpse into room is a brilliant bit in this, and the viewers eyes are invited in such a subtle manner to go there. I love your work, and this is no different.

Photos. I get impatient with painting from life...I use many photos though, not just one. I use them for close-ups so I can see colour...
