Resubmitting this as a print. Probably the most important piece I have ever painted. Created the same month my mother had a severe stroke. It was my way of working through what I was feeling.
The tension of the piece is in the precarious balance of the figure on a very small stool, and the absolute stoic countenance of the subject in almost a fetal position. Its visceral and I fell your pain. There is the feeling of holding on when there is nothing else you can do—BUT—hold on. Powerful image.
